Keira Knightley se narodila 22. 3. 1985 v Teddingtonu ve Velké Británii. Herecké předpoklady měla už od dětství a již ve 3 letech si řekla o agenta. Její rodiče, Will Knightley (herec) a Sharman MacDonald (herečka a scénáristka), nebyli natolik šílení, aby pořizovali agenta pro tříleté dítě a navíc ji ze začátku v hraní nepodporovali. Keira byla dyslektička, ale dařilo se jí to před rodiči skrývat. Poslouchala knížky na kazetách, učila se je nazp amět a pak dělala, že je čte. Až její babička na to přišla a prohlásila: "To děcko neumí číst!" Maminka jí řekla, že jestli za ní bude chodit s knížkou v ruce a s úsměvem na tváři každý den po celé prázdniny, v září jí sežene agenta. Keira se nevzdávala a v 6 letech agenta dostala. Ten jí v 7 letech zařídil první setkání s kamerou v televizním filmu ROYAL CELEBRATION. Podle nařízení rodičů však směla hrát pouze v době, kdy se jí to nepletlo se školou, aby ji neflákala. Kdyby si zhoršila známky, nesměla by hrát. Ale i tak Keira získávala další praxi v televizi.
Největší úspěch pro Keiru připravil letní trhák PIRÁTI Z KARIBIKU: PROKLETÍ
ČERNÉ PERLY. Keira zde byla obklopena filmovými lamači srdcí třech generací-Geoffrey Rush, Johnny Depp a Orlando Bloom. Práci s nimi si nemohla vynachválit. A právě díky tomuto filmu si Keira našla miliony fanoušků po celém světě
I když je ještě víceméně teenager, tak má za sebou několik opravdu kasovních úspěchů. Ale i přesto žije doma s rodiči a bratrem Calebem a prozatím si neosvojila hvězdné manýry některých jejích hereckých kolegů. Můžeme jenom doufat, že jí to vydrží.

Ve třech letech si řekla o agenta. Sice nevěděla, kdo to agent je, ale rodiče měli agenta, tak ho chtěla taky.
Je dyslektička.
Strašně jí štvalo, že ve filmu Blafuj jako Beckham muselo její družstvo prohrát a dokonce přemlouvala režisérku, aby to změnila.
